ecology

general landscape and how it could affect people + animals

0-1000ft.

  • tropical and sunny as compared to foggier cloud forests
  • smoother and leveled. upper forests transistion to grassland
  • in some areas, steep cliffs from 1000-5000ft. fall directly to sea level (central.)
  • basalt columns, caves common, some are extensive. usually occur in northern portion where singed yellow grass from high sulfur content occur. highly specialized organisms
  • many sea caves where people call home, are usually carved into or blocked off for water pens
  • majority lives on pasture grassland that goes to ocean gently
  • huge, colorful reefs, are magically adapted and feed off of the lava's chemicals
  • bioluminescent bacteria baby! theres like a whole fighting ring / sport in the caves thats like if you see the water disturbed and glowing (guy falling in) you lose

1000-5000ft.

  • true cloud forest begins. approaching 5000, the fog becomes thicker until it reaches the forges
  • besides cities, is highly dense and tropical. jagged cliffs surrounding city
  • the incline helps deter water as the volcano is the continental divide
  • east and west is very jagged and more "country" people live on either side
  • some platues are tilled with cascading farmland, especially by rilla [common drain point]
  • some trees are enormous and are used as building support

5000-8000ft.

  • high forge located here. almost completely volcanic rock soil at this point as trees begin to turn more "affected"
  • whimsically burnt. the ash-covered trees are covered in gold leaves painstakingly glided on as preservation
  • surprsingly smooth, old lavaflows give it round geometry, contrasts with aza+ria
  • highly carved into and artificial, still preserving nat. shape
  • rich people zone
